ESPN approached me to create a hero illustration and a set of icons for their annual “Interview Issue”. They needed icons for a wide variety of sports and an energetic full page illustration combining the icons to kickoff the feature. We wanted to show what sports interviews often are – bold, lightning rods, unpredictable and full of memorable snippets. Whether it’s Allen Iverson’s “Practice?” rant or Joe Namath’s Super Bowl guarantee, interviews have become as much a part of the sports lexicon as the games themselves.
